Tour of Tri An Hydraulic Plant

In order to help students have a broad and comprehensive view of the knowledge related to the Electrical - Electronics industry in practice at businesses, on the morning of March 24, 2023, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE) of Ton Duc Thang University organized a tour to Tri An Hydropower Plant. During the visit, it was very honorable to have the presence of representatives of Tri An Hydropower Plant including Mr. Huynh Ngoc Cuong, Mr. Tra Quang Do An, and Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh. The representative of the FEEE led by Dr. Nguyen Cong Trang was the leader of the visiting delegation and participation of 35 students from the Department of Electrical Engineering of FEEE.

Tri An hydropower plant was built on the Dong Nai river, the section flowing through Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province, 65 km northeast of Ho Chi Minh City. The plant was built with the financial and technological support of the Soviet Union in 1984, generating unit 1 on April 30, 1988, and inaugurated in 1991. Tri An hydroelectric power plant has 4 machine units, with a total design capacity of 400 MW, and an average annual power output of 1.7 billion kWh. During this trip, the students directly visited the spillway of the hydroelectric lake and the water intake of the plant. The students were introduced by the factory's representative to the history of the factory's construction, the operating principles, and how to operate the plant from the generation stage to the transmission of electricity to the high-voltage line. Moreover, the students can also directly watch the water turbines and generators in action. In addition, they directly see the power transformers connected to the generating sets and the power distribution yard at the plant.

The trip helped students equip themselves with a lot of interesting practical knowledge after the theoretical parts learned at school. The trip also promotes dynamism, the ability to explore, actively learn, and research issues related to your field of study to be better prepared in the future after you graduate.
