Welcoming Students to the 2026–2027 Academic Year: Launching the “Polite Conduct Education” Program and a Thematic Seminar on the Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Students
On the afternoon of August 6, 2026, in a vibrant atmosphere at Auditorium 2A, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ton Duc Thang University successfully organized the Welcome Meeting for the 2026–2027 Academic Year, combined with a student dialogue session. The program served as an important annual bridge connecting the Faculty’s leadership, lecturers, and hundreds of students from different cohorts, while opening an inspiring journey of learning and research amid the rapid transformation of technology.
The program began with an energetic atmosphere created by lively and youthful musical performances delivered by students of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. This year’s event was particularly meaningful as lecturers and students came together to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment and development of both the Faculty and the University.
Following the opening remarks and introduction of distinguished guests, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, delivered the opening speech, highlighting the proud achievements of the 2025–2026 academic year and officially launching the emulation movement for the new 2026–2027 academic year. In recognition of the dedicated contributions of faculty members, the Faculty honored outstanding Academic Advisors and Class Advisors for their exemplary work in class management and academic advising. In addition, the Faculty’s leadership presented certificates of merit to outstanding student groups and individuals who made significant contributions to academic activities, scientific research, and student union and youth activities.
One of the key highlights of the welcome program was the AI thematic seminar, chaired and presented by Dr. Vu Tri Vien, Head of the Department of Automation and Control, under the theme: “When AI Becomes as Common as Air – What Skills Will Still Get You Paid?” With a highly practical and insightful perspective, Dr. Vien provided students with in-depth guidance on modern engineering thinking. He emphasized that in an era of explosive AI development, technological and hardware limitations will continue to evolve. What enables an engineer to maintain sustainable professional value is not simply keeping up with short-term skills, but developing core competencies: the ability to define the right problem, identify errors, demonstrate system safety through mathematical and engineering principles, and uphold professional ethics.
Another meaningful highlight of the program was the launch ceremony and kick-off of the “Polite Conduct Education” Program for Students in the 2026–2027 Academic Year. Following an emotional countdown, student representatives delivered a response speech expressing their determination to build an image of Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering students who are not only professionally competent but also respectful and exemplary in their conduct.
Alongside these activities, an open dialogue session between the Faculty’s leadership and students was held under the spirit of “Listening to Understand – Accompanying to Develop.” During the final part of the program, students were introduced to key information regarding scientific research, academic affairs, and student affairs, before the event concluded with attendance registration via QR code.
