On July 10, 2025, at Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE) organized the signing ceremony of memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with three universities/ institutions from South Korea: Shinhan University, SungKyul University, and the AI-Agent Institute of Sangji University. The event aimed to strengthen international collaboration and promote applied research in artificial intelligence (AI) for healthcare.
Representing TDTU, Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong – Dean of FEEE, who currently oversees academic and research activities at the faculty – together with lecturers and members of the strong research group (SRG) AITECH, welcomed three guest professors from Korea: Prof. Han-Young Choi (Shinhan University), Prof. Sung-Jun Park (SungKyul University), and Prof. Kwang-Man Ko (AI-Agent Institute, Sangji University). All are leading experts in AI and medical technologies.
The specialized workshop following the signing ceremony introduced in-depth presentations on personalized AI-powered training systems, digital twin technologies integrated with AI for home-based healthcare, and strict cybersecurity requirements in medical software. During the exchange session, representatives from both sides discussed the potential for developing personalized AI solutions, especially for elderly healthcare – a critical issue in both Vietnam and South Korea. From an applied perspective, Dr. Vu Tri Vien – Head of Department of Automation and Control Engineering – emphasized that integrating emotion recognition technology into medical devices, as currently developed by the AITECH SRG, not only contributes to digital transformation in healthcare but also lays a solid foundation for interdisciplinary collaboration between the university and international partners.
The event marked not only a significant expansion in academic cooperation but also reaffirmed the pioneering role of FEEE – TDTU in conducting research that serves societal needs.
