On the morning of May 22, 2025, in meeting room C010, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE), Ton Duc Thang University organized a specialized report session for students with the topic: "Application of artificial intelligence and image processing in supporting cancer diagnosis". This is an event that inspires students to pursue research projects and thesis courses related to medical AI, contributing to promoting the spirit of creativity and technological innovation.
Specialized report session was presented by Dr. Nguyen Hoang Nam – Deputy Head of Automation and Control Engineering Department. In addition, there was also the presence of lecturers and students from majors in Automation and Control Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering. The specialized report session gave an overview of artificial intelligence including the concept, main branches and the role of AI in the medical field. It also introduces image processing technology and basic applications in medical imaging, an overview of human cancer, and current methods. The specialized report session also touched on the application of artificial intelligence and image processing in assisting in cancer diagnosis through tumor imaging and the potential of the technology, but with challenges in the implementation of AI and image processing in medical diagnosis. Finally, the discussion and exchange between students and lecturers took place lively and excitingly.
The specialized report session provided students with the latest and basic insights on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and image processing techniques in the medical field. Especially, it supports cancer diagnosis, and helps students of the FEEE see the connection between specialized knowledge such as digital signal processing, image processing and biomedical electronics with practical applications in health care.
