Seminar Report: “Technology Trends in Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design Engineering”

With the aim of equipping students with updated knowledge on technology trends and career-oriented skills - especially those majoring in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design Engineering. On April 1, 2026, at Room A0101, Ton Duc Thang University, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE) collaborated with Synopsys Vietnam Co., Ltd. to organize a seminar titled “Technology Trends in Semiconductor Integrated Circuit Design Engineering.”

The program was designed to help students access advanced design methodologies, particularly in the fields of telecommunications, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and energy efficiency optimization. It also provided a valuable opportunity for students to interact and exchange ideas directly with industry engineers, thereby gaining clearer insights into career pathways and future development opportunities. At the seminar, speakers from Synopsys Vietnam - one of the world’s leading companies in electronic design automation (EDA) tools -shared in-depth and practical knowledge. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Duy (Manager, Applications Engineering) introduced Synopsys’s position in the global and Vietnamese semiconductor value chain. In addition, experts presented detailed insights into the logic synthesis process, clarifying the relationship between high-level design (RTL) and actual hardware implementation, as well as various design optimization steps.

The program also focused on analyzing critical constraints in modern IC design, including timing, power, and area. Furthermore, design solutions for AI, IoT, intelligent embedded systems, and energy optimization were introduced to students. Ms. Thanh Tam (Academic Program Collaboration Lead) also shared information about career pathways, internship programs, and recruitment opportunities at Synopsys Vietnam, helping students better understand the essential skills required to enter the rapidly growing semiconductor industry.

The seminar took place in a lively atmosphere, highlighted by an engaging discussion session where students actively asked questions and explored advanced design models as well as future career opportunities. Through this activity, students of the FEEE not only enhanced their awareness of their roles in the context of Industry 4.0 but also strengthened their academic orientation. They are encouraged to proactively enrich their knowledge both inside and outside the classroom, continuously update themselves on technological trends, and develop essential skills to meet the demands of both domestic and international enterprises.
