Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Hosts Seminar on “Sharing Smart Technology Trends and Application Solutions in Modern Power Systems”

On the afternoon of October 30, 2026, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ton Duc Thang University, organized a seminar entitled “Sharing Smart Technology Trends and Application Solutions in Modern Power Systems” at Meeting Room A0101. The event was part of the Faculty’s alumni engagement program, which aims to connect alumni with current students, update students on technological advancements, strengthen their exposure to industry practices, and broaden career perspectives for Electrical Engineering students.

The seminar featured two alumni of the Faculty: Mr. Ho Viet Tin, Founder of NIKA Lighting Co., Ltd., and Mr. Le Khanh Dy Khang, Co-Founder of NIKA Lighting Co., Ltd. Drawing on their professional expertise and entrepreneurial experience, the speakers shared prominent trends in modern lighting, ranging from LED technology and digital control devices to smart lighting solutions integrated with the Internet of Things (IoT).

A key focus of the seminar was the application of digital technologies in the design, simulation, and performance evaluation of building lighting systems. The speakers introduced lighting design workflows, equipment selection methods, the use of photometric data, and the evaluation of technical parameters in accordance with relevant standards. The seminar also highlighted the integration of lighting design with architecture, interior design, and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to ensure consistency, efficiency, and practical applicability.

In addition to technical solutions, the seminar explored energy efficiency strategies through dimming technology, sensors, scenario-based lighting control, and integration with building management systems. These solutions play a significant role in optimizing electricity consumption, enhancing lighting quality, and promoting sustainable building development.

Another highlight of the program was the alumni’s sharing of their entrepreneurial journeys in lighting consultancy and design. Building on their academic backgrounds in Electrical Engineering, the speakers shared valuable insights into identifying market needs, developing technical services, establishing businesses, and shaping professional career paths. These experiences helped students gain a deeper understanding of how technical knowledge can be applied to innovation and entrepreneurship.

Through the seminar, students had the opportunity to explore emerging technologies being applied in building electrical systems and gain a clearer understanding of the competencies required to meet labor market demands. The event further reaffirmed the importance of alumni engagement in fostering a practice-oriented learning environment and strengthening collaboration among the University, alumni, and industry partners.
