Seminar on “Development of mobile networks from 2G to 5G and IoT technologies”

On the afternoon of December 19, 2023, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE), Ton Duc Thang University coordinated with the Technical Center of Region 3 (TCR3) under Viettel Network Corporation to conduct a seminar at meeting room A403. The purpose of the seminar was to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the FEEE and friendly businesses. In addition, the seminar develops student activities closely linked with businesses, and introduce students to new technologies today.

           In the seminar, there were lecturers from the FEEE: Dr. Huynh Van Van - Vice Dean of FEEE, Dr. Ha Duy Hung – Lecturer of Electronics and Telecommunications Department, Mr. Phan Thanh Duy - Student Affairs Officer of the Faculty. On the side of TCR3 - Viettel Network Corporation had the presence of Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union, political assistant of KTKV3 Center; Mr. Nguyen Huu Tai - 5G Specialist Engineer; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tu - Radio Engineer; Mr. Vu Duy Chi - Mechanical and Electrical Specialist Engineer and communications assistants include Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Diem, Ms. Nguyen Thi Dam, Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc Hanh.

          At the beginning of the seminar, students were introduced to the history of the development of 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile networks in the world and the current status of 5G mobile network deployment in Vietnam. Next, there was a presentation on the practical application of IoT technology, the application of water meters in Ho Chi Minh City, and an introduction to the electrical system of BTS stations. At the end of the seminar, there was time for students to ask questions and listen to answers from respected lecturers and engineers from TCR3.

         Through this seminar, students have gained useful knowledge about new technologies (5G, IoT, …). From there, students have a more general view of the telecommunications industry and have new directions in scientific research, learning as well as future work.
