On the afternoon of November 14th, 2022, in meeting room C, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE), Ton Duc Thang University held a Journal Club seminar with topic “the collective effect of ternary Nano fuel blends on diesel engine performance and emissions characteristics”. This is research study of Dr. Fayaz Hussain. Attending the seminar were Dr. Tran Thanh Phuong – Vice Dean of the FEEE and Dr. Huynh Van Van – Assistant Dean along with FEEE’s academic staff and the students.
Opening the seminar, Dr. Fayaz Hussain explained the biodiesel prepared by palm oil and using a transesterification process. The B30 fuel blend was prepared as a base fuel for this current study. B30 is a mix of 30% biodiesel and 70% conventional diesel. According to him, the reason not to use biodiesel entirely is that the car engines need to be replaced if converting completely, which will be costly. Next, he introduced the biodiesel samples in the study, including: Commercially available diesel oil (B10); B30 and three different nanoparticles including CNT,
Through this seminar, students can understand the research process of biodiesel as well as understand the need to replace fossil fuels with biofuels. Simultaneously, there are specific steps to help prevent climate change and create a clean, and beautiful green environment.
