With the goal of fostering comprehensive development for students particularly in interdisciplinary thinking, innovation, and entrepreneurship on the afternoon of April 19, 2025, the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ton Duc Thang University, in collaboration with PowerTech Trading and Engineering Co., Ltd. and Hà English Language Center, successfully organized the Preliminary Round of the “TDTU Startup Wings 2025” competition for students across all faculties.
The competition serves as a practical initiative encouraging students not only to acquire technical knowledge but also to apply it flexibly in real-life situations. Through this, students are empowered to develop impactful startup ideas that address societal and community challenges. The university aims to create a dynamic academic environment that bridges technology, business, and language contributing to sustainable economic and social development.
The judging panel included:
- Dr. Nguyen Huu Khanh Nhan – Vice Dean, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering
- Dr. Nguyen Hoang Nam – Vice Head, Department of Automation and Control Engineering
- Dr. Tran Dinh Cuong – Vice Head, Department of Electrical Engineering

The competition attracted 11 student teams with nearly 60 participants from diverse academic disciplines, demonstrating strong enthusiasm, creativity, and a readiness to take on practical innovation challenges. Project ideas presented in the preliminary round included:
- UAV-based delivery system supported by LTE/4G/5G networks
- Student Shuttle Safety Monitoring System Integrated with Centralized School Management Platform
- Electronic scoring system for Taekwondo competitions
- Wearable Device for Remote Health Monitoring
- Sustainable weaning food from oyster mushroom roots for aquaculture
- UAV-Based Solution for Maritime Reconnaissance Support
- Electrical cabinet monitoring device
- Smart health-tracking pillow
- AI STEM Platform for Research and Learning
- Water sampling system based on depth
- Engine Pulse Detection Device
During the preliminary round, each team presented their project before the judging panel. Based on criteria such as innovation, feasibility, practical application, and societal impact, the top 5 teams were selected to advance to the final round. Each finalist team received financial support of 3,000,000 VND to further develop and realize their proposed projects. The 5 finalist projects include:
A highlight of the competition was its attractive prize structure, featuring scholarship vouchers for TOEIC, IELTS, APTIS, and other language courses at Hà English Language Center, along with valuable gifts from PowerTech Trading and Engineering Co., Ltd. for the top-performing teams.
