Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ton Duc Thang University Triumphs at the “Intelligent UAV Contest 2025”

On January 18, 2026, the final round of the academic competition “Intelligent UAV Contest – 2025”, themed “Fly Fast – Delivery Smart,” was held at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering. After a series of intense qualifying rounds, the eight best teams from universities including Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Engineering, and Thu Dau Mot University advanced to the finals, turning the competition venue into a true technological arena.

In his remarks at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le My Ha, representing the Judging Panel, highly appreciated the practical applicability of the competition. He emphasized that UAV delivery solutions not only help students consolidate their academic knowledge but also open up important applications in disaster relief and community support. This competition provides an ideal environment for future engineers to gain hands-on experience, learn from one another, and aspire toward international standards.

The competition consisted of two challenging tasks. In the manual flight category, teams were required to pilot drones through obstacles and accurately drop payloads at five designated locations at heights exceeding 2 meters. Meanwhile, the autonomous flight category was a true technological battle, where drones had to operate entirely based on sensors, GPS, and complex navigation algorithms, demonstrating students’ advanced system design capabilities.

The most impressive performances came from two teams representing Ton Duc Thang University: TDTU01 and TDTU03. Despite using large-sized drones, the TDTU teams showcased exceptional agility, successfully navigating narrow obstacles and flexibly handling various situations thanks to well-developed hardware and software systems.

In the final results, TDTU03 was crowned Champion with an impressive time of 4 minutes and 54 seconds, while TDTU01 confidently secured the Second Prize. This remarkable achievement not only honors the competing teams but also affirms the university’s role in training high-quality technical human resources, ready to meet the demands of the digital technology era.
