On the morning of July 7th, 2023, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), a group of students from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE), Ton Duc Thang University and lecturers attended the enterprise exhibition and cheering for the Robot Contest with five members of the FEEE. Participating in the competition were teams from 4 other universities in the South, including: HCMC University of Transport, HCMC University of Technology, Nguyen Tat Thanh University, HCMC University of Technology and Education. This is a great activity to create conditions for students to improve their understanding and experience in the field of study.
This event had the presence of Dr. Vo Huu Hau, MSc. Nguyen Thanh Quang and Dr. Vu Tri Vien - Department of Automation and Control Engineering. Mr. Phan Thanh Duy - Student Affairs Officer of the Faculty. For the enterprise exhibition, this event brought together many renowned companies in technology supply, manufacturing solutions, and the display of modern machinery systems, providing the participating students with practical experiences as they observed various devices such as 3D printed products, laser welding machines, advanced cutting tools, and more. Particularly notable was the Robot competition for students from universities in the Southern region, which took place within the exhibition area. The team representing the FEEE consisted of passionate students in the field of robotics and automation, including Nguyen Hoang Anh, Nguyen Vo Hoang Anh, Le Nhat Nguyen, Phan Thi Nhu Huynh, and Cao Viet Bach. In the competition, all five universities were tasked with two missions. The first task involved setting up a code reader, configuring the hardware to ensure stable code reading on a high-speed rotating table, and adjusting the camera to read different contents. The second task was to connect the hardware and set the coordinates for the robot to move along the designated path. The FEEE student team demonstrated excellent teamwork and collaboration in solving each challenge, and the students from all universities participated with enthusiasm, professionalism, and mutual respect for one another.
In the end, the FEEE students team won a consolation prize worth 2 million VND and a certificate of attendance. Although they did not receive the high prize, they made a good impression on other friend universities. After the competition, the group's experiences gained such as the ability to program ARS/AGV Autonomous Robots, teamwork skills etc. combined with certificates that will help their future job opportunities.
