Applying AutoCAD Software to Design Electrical Systems for Smart Buildings” Contest, Academic Year 2025–2026

On the afternoon of November 28, 2025, at the Computer Lab in Building A,  the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE), Ton Duc Thang University organized the contest “Applying AutoCAD Software to Design Electrical Systems for Smart Buildings.” The contest was implemented for 2025–2026, aiming to create a meaningful and beneficial playground for students, helping them improve their AutoCAD application skills in electrical system design as well as strengthen their learning motivation and their ability to apply knowledge in practical contexts.

AutoCAD is a CAD-based software used to create technical drawings in 2D or 3D vector format. It is widely used across engineering disciplines. It is an official compulsory course taught to all students of the FEEE. In each competition round, participants were required to draw schematic diagrams of electrical supply systems for models such as residential houses, offices, apartments, or commercial centers within 60 minutes without using reference materials. All contestants demonstrated seriousness, technical thinking, and proficiency in preparing drawings using AutoCAD software.

Through this competition, students not only strengthened their AutoCAD design skills but also gained a deeper understanding of the practical processes involved in implementing electrical systems for real-world projects. These are essential competencies that help them become more confident when entering the job market after graduation. Proficiency in AutoCAD opens up various career opportunities in areas such as electrical building design, MEP consultancy and supervision, smart-building system operation, and automation-related projects. The competition therefore serves as a stepping stone for students to approach industry requirements early and gain clearer direction for their future career paths.
