On the morning of April 22, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation and Thanh Nien Newspaper launched the 3rd “Saving Electricity as a Habit with the topic Safety - Saving experience sharing” writing contest, with total prizes of 130 million VND and many attractive gifts.
The 3rd annual "Saving Electricity Becomes a Habit" competition, topic "Safety, Savings - Sharing Experiences," seeks entries that share electricity-saving measures and ways to ensure safe and efficient electricity usage to minimize electrical accidents and fires directly or indirectly caused by electricity. The aim is to enhance public awareness regarding safe and economical electricity use, making it a daily habit.
The contest is open to all Vietnamese citizens, students, organizations, businesses currently customers of the power industry; except for staff, workers of Thanh Nien Newspaper and Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation; there is no limit to the number of entries.
The contest entries are written in Vietnamese, not exceeding 800 words, accompanied by images related to the content mentioned in the article, or illustrative images by the author. Contest entries (including articles and illustrative images) must be new creations, not used, not published on any mass media or publications; not posted on websites, blogs, social networking sites of organizations, or individuals. Contest entries are not printed into the author’s book and joint anthologies until the end of the contest.
This year's competition notably introduces a new category for short clips, aiming to enhance the richness and diversity for participants. Technically, submitted videos should be edited in landscape (1920x1080) or portrait (1080x1920) orientation, in MP4 or MOV format, accompanied by audio in MP3, M4A, or WAV format. Video quality must be at least HD 1080 or higher, with audio at a minimum of 128bit. Organizers require that videos do not include any logos or stickers, including watermarks, TikTok IDs, or indications of video editing software. For audio, videos are only permitted to use music either self-composed by the participant or sourced from the Audio Library of YouTube and Epidemic Sound. If music from other sources is used, participants must provide a valid usage license and clearly describe the source upon submission. In the case of self-composed music, copyright certification or equivalent documents proving ownership must be provided. Regarding visuals, all images used in the video must be personally filmed, photographed, recorded, or audio-recorded by the participant, who bears full responsibility for the copyright of the images and audio in their work. If any copyright infringement is detected regarding images, audio, or other materials, the organizing committee reserves the right to disqualify the entry and reclaim any awarded prizes. Upon submission, individual authors must clearly state their full name, pseudonym (if any), year of birth, occupation, gender, contact address or email, and phone number. For entries from organizations, unions, or businesses (collectively referred to as organizations), the organization's name, address, and phone number must be provided, along with the name and phone number of a contact representative. Each author or organization may submit multiple entries but must maintain consistency in their full name or pseudonym across all submissions.
The contest jury includes Dr. Nguyen Cong Trang - Lecturer of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ton Duc Thang University; Poet - Writer Mr. Le Minh Quoc; The ambassador of the contest is Miss Eco International - World Environment Queen Ms. Nguyen Thanh Ha along with singer Mr. Hoa Hiep, and representatives of typical energy-saving families in Ho Chi Minh City.

The time for receiving contest entries is from April 22 to July 22, 2025. Contest entries can be sent via the program’s email: tietkiemdien@thanhnien.vn; or sent by post to the Editorial Office of Thanh Nien Newspaper: 268 - 270 Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City (clearly stating: Articles participating in the Saving Electricity as a Habit contest).
The organizing committee will award 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 3 third prizes, and 25 consolation prizes to individuals, organizations, and businesses. Additionally, the organizing committee will also present 2 inspirational author awards for the writing category. Especially, this year there will be 1 first prize, 1 second prize, 1 third prize, and 3 consolation prizes for individuals, organizations, and businesses participating with short clips. The total prize value for the third season of the competition is up to 130 million VND, along with gifts and commendations from the organizing committee.
