Abstract: Fossil fuel depletion risk forecasting and growing environmental concerns are strong impetus for developing higher efficient transportation system nowadays. Hybridization is considered as one of the most efficient short and mid-term solutions. In particular, series hydraulic hybrid vehicle (SHHV) provides a further advantage when it provides more degree of freedom of engine control. By meaning of cruising control, the problem is not only to track the vehicle speed but also the engine torque, engine speed, and accumulator pressure to their references. The aim of this paper is to develop a multi-input-multi-output model-based controller for a 3.5 ton truck class SHHV. The effectiveness of the proposed controller is comparing with conventional PID controller with different power management strategies under certain driving curriculums.
