Specialized report session “Factory Safety Automation: Standards, Technologies, and Practical Applications”

In order to strengthen the connection between students and enterprises, on the morning of October 17, 2025, at Room A0101, the Department of Automation and Control Engineering, Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (FEEE), Ton Duc Thang University successfully organized the specialized report session titled “Factory Automation Safety: Standards, Technologies, and Practical Applications”. This event provided students with an opportunity to learn and enhance their skills in occupational safety while gaining in-depth knowledge of international safety standards. The specialized report session helped students majoring in Automation and Control Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering understand the essential role of safety in the design, operation, and maintenance of systems in modern manufacturing.

The event was successfully conducted with the participation of Schmersal Vietnam limited liability company, a global leader in machine safety solutions, along with faculty members and a large number of students. Mr. Nguyen Huy Trương representative from Schmersal Vietnam and host of the specialized report session, shared his valuable knowledge, experiences, and insights with the students in a clear and approachable manner. The specialized report focused on introducing and analyzing key international machine safety standards such as ISO 13849-1, IEC 62061, and IEC 61508, which form the fundamental framework for modern industrial production systems. Advanced safety devices from Schmersal - including safety relays, safety PLCs, solenoid interlocks, light curtains, and safe motion systems etc. were presented and thoroughly explained, allowing students to better understand their principles of operation and real-world applications in manufacturing environments.

Throughout the specialized report session, there were active interactions between students and the expert, who addressed questions and clarified concepts to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the discussed topics. This specialized report provided students with practical insights into building safety functions and selecting appropriate protection levels for machinery systems. It not only strengthened their theoretical foundation but also enhanced their ability to apply knowledge in real-world design, analysis, and problem-solving within an industrial context. The specialized report session “Factory Safety Automation: Standards, Technologies, and Practical Applications” concluded successfully, demonstrating the ongoing efforts of the FEEE to help students stay updated with advancements in science and technology while equipping them with essential professional skills before entering the workforce. The event effectively bridged theoretical knowledge and practical experience, raising students’ awareness and competence in industrial safety.
