TDT internal debate competition


In order to create a chance for students to express ideas confidently and to support their academic development, TDT Creative Language Center is proud to announce the 2019 Debate Competition. 

 The contest details are as follows:

Preliminary Round

First round of submissions (writing): Saturday, 12 October at 11:59 PM


Choose one of the following to write about:

  1.  How do you think your life would be different if you were born 50 years earlier?
  2. If there were a talent show being held tomorrow and you had to perform, what would you choose to do?
  3. What do you do to entertain yourself when you are bored?

No longer than 500 words

Due by 12 October at 11:59 PM

Insert a google doc or a word document with your submission into this google drive with your TDTU email account:

You will be informed if you have been selected to move on to the preliminary debate rounds.

Semifinal round (debate): Friday, October 18 at various times

Final round (debate): Tuesday, October 22, Shift 3


British Parliamentary format (eight teams of two for the semi-final round and 4 teams of two for the final round)

Fifteen minutes to prepare a speech on a selected topic

Speeches not exceeding seven minutes in length

Contestants who advance to the semifinal will be informed of further instructions

  • Allexpensestrip paid to Thailand for the World Universities Debating Championship Competition for 2 people in December.
  • Membershipon the TDT Debate Team.

Besides, the winners will also receive a scholarship to study English, certificates from sponsors, and a certificate of achievement in the contest from the Center.
