The accreditation of bachelor programs of FEEE

The Bachelor Program in “Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering” offered by FEEE has fully met the ASEAN University Network (AUN) standards and thereby accredited by AUN-QA in June 2019. This is one of the first for programs of TDTU to be accredited by an international organization. All other higher education programs offered by FEEE are going to be accredited by ASIIN (a certified European accreditation agency) by the end of 2025, according to the quality assurance roadmap planned by the Faculty. With the goal of being evaluated by approved international quality assurance institutions, FEEE would like to make the international comparison between their programs with other programs possible and to enhance the reputation of the programs internationally.

History

The important role of quality assurance is seriously taken into consideration by TDTU. Since the first days the University established, the quality management activities were embedded in the Academic Affair Office. In 2007, the Internal Accreditation and Monitoring Board was established under President’s Decision No. 368/QĐ-TDTU, June 1st 2007. The Internal Accreditation and Monitoring Board was then renamed to the Internal Accreditation and Monitoring Office under President’s Decision No. 847/QĐ-TDT, August 20th 2009. In 2011, the President decided to rename the Internal Accreditation and Monitoring Office to Department of Testing and Quality Assessment (Decision No. 1001/QĐ-TDT, September 29th 201) which worked under the direction of the University President to achieve the goals, vision and mission of TDTU.

The establishment of DTQA is an important turning point for the TDTU's Internal Quality Assurance system to be established. The key roles of DTQA are responsible for coordinating the following activities: (1) organizing exams for the whole university; (2) monitoring and supervising all training activities; (3) issuing qualifications; (4) setting up document for quality assurance and developing the Internal Quality Assurance System; (5) be responsible for an assessment at institutional level and ranking activities according to international standards; (5) coordinating with the faculty for the External Quality
Assessment at program level.

The Quality Assurance Teams are then set up at Faculty level to cooperate with DTQA in developing and improving the quality of education and training towards the regional and international standards. The Quality Assurance Teams are responsible for: (1) the quality assurance activities at the faculty, such as, teaching evaluation, course evaluation, and curriculum self-assessment; (2) a self-assessment at program level; (3) organizing and writing SAR; (4) coordinating with DTQA for the
External Quality Assessment at program level; (5) and following up and assess the
action plan.

TDTU's quality policy focuses on four main areas which summarized as follows:
(1) Recruiting and training professional human resources to be loyal, knowledgeable, professionalism and responsibility.
(2) Focusing on the sustainable development of education, science – technology activities and building TDTU’s quality culture in which all TDTU staff working under ISO 9001-2015;
(3) Upgrading modern facilities and equipment to improve TDTU’s the quality of education and research;
(4) Enhancing the training and research quality of TDTU to an international level through promoting domestic and foreign communication, expanding international cooperation, implementing technology transfer and participating in the external quality assessment at programme level in order to meet the stakeholders’ expectations and the international integration.

The strength of the internal quality assurance system of the university is reflected in its core values:

  1. Strong commitment of the leader
  2. Thinking based on risk management
  3. Customers targeted
  4. Focusing on the needs of the interested parties
  5. International standard orientation
  6. Quality and trust
  7. Continuous innovation

Achievement and quality assurance roadmap

BETE is one of the first four program at TDTU that are accredited by Asian University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) in 2019 with the grade of “Better than Adequate”. In July 2019, DETE received the program assessment report by AUN-QA after the on-site assessment in June 2019 (see the Self-Assessment Report here).

AUN-QA

In October 2020, U.S.News Best Global Universities by Subject 2021 ranked TDTU as #260 in Engineering. Furthermore, according to the ARWU Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2020 data (July 2020), TDTU has been ranked in top 401-500 in the world and top 1 in Vietnam in both Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering.

To achieve the goal that all higher education programs must be accredited by certified international accreditation institutions by the end of 2025, the Faculty has approved the roadmap for accreditation as described in the following table.

ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics) has been selected as the international body for accrediting FEEE programs because of several reasons. First, FEEE would like to develop their undergraduate and graduate programs internationally, not just limited in Southeast Asia region, so a certified European accreditation agency is an appropriate choice for that purpose. Secondly, the current curricula of FEEE programs were developed by referring to the curricula of the University of Manchester (United Kingdom), a European university that ranks in TOP 100 universities of the world. Last but not least, ASIIN is specialized in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, which FEEE programs belong to, and the assessment team of ASIIN are also professionals in the same field of accredited programs.
